How to Delete and Reorder WhatsApp Sticker Packs

Remove a sticker pack from WhatsApp on Android and iPhone, understand what deleting actually removes, and keep a crowded sticker tray usable.
Updated

Quick answer

To remove a WhatsApp sticker pack, open the sticker tray in any chat, find the pack, and use the remove or delete control beside it. Deleting takes the pack out of your tray only — stickers you already sent stay in those chats, and the pack can be re-added at any time from the sticker app that provided it.

Removing a pack

  1. Open any chat and tap the emoji icon, then the Stickers tab. On iPhone, the sticker icon sits in the row above the keyboard.
  2. Find the pack you want gone in the list of added packs.
  3. Use the remove control beside it — on Android this is usually a long-press on the tray icon, on iPhone a delete action in the sticker list.
  4. Confirm. The pack disappears from the tray immediately.

Removing a pack from WhatsApp does not uninstall the sticker app that provided it. If you also want the app gone, uninstall it separately — which removes every pack it supplied.

Keeping the tray usable

The tray is a horizontal strip of tray icons, so every added pack makes the others harder to reach. Most people add far more packs than they send from, and the useful discipline is subtraction.

  • Keep a handful of packs you actually send from, not everything you liked once.
  • Two or three animated packs is usually the right number — they suit celebration and shock, not routine replies.
  • Favourite individual stickers rather than keeping a 30-sticker pack for one of them.
  • Add packs in the order you want them; new packs join the end of the tray.

Re-adding a pack later

Deleting is not destructive. Open the sticker app that provided the pack, choose it again, and tap Add to WhatsApp — the pack returns, joining the end of the tray. If you removed the app as well, reinstall it first.

This is also the only practical way to change the order of your packs, since WhatsApp has no drag-to-reorder control. Removing a pack and adding it again moves it to the end of the tray, which on most phones is the easiest end to reach with a thumb. It is a blunt tool, but for a pack you send from every day it is worth the twenty seconds.

Removing the app instead of the pack

Uninstalling the sticker app removes every pack that app supplied, all at once. That is occasionally what you want — a clean sweep after trying a lot of packs — but it is worth understanding the difference before doing it.

Keep the sticker app installed if you want to keep its packs. WhatsApp reads a third-party pack's images from the app that imported them, so the app is not a one-off installer you can discard afterwards.

Get the Sticko app

WhatsApp only accepts sticker packs from an installed app, so the last step always happens outside the browser. Sticko is free on Android and iPhone, and adds any pack to WhatsApp in a couple of taps.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete a sticker pack from WhatsApp?

Open the sticker tray in any chat, find the pack among your added packs, and use the remove control beside it — a long-press on the tray icon on Android, or the delete action in the sticker list on iPhone. The pack leaves the tray straight away.

Does deleting a pack delete stickers I already sent?

No. Stickers already sent or received stay in those chats permanently, because they are part of the conversation rather than of your tray. Removing a pack only affects what you can send from now on.

Can I get a deleted sticker pack back?

Yes. Open the sticker app that provided it, select the pack, and add it to WhatsApp again. It reappears at the end of the tray. If you uninstalled the app too, reinstall it first.

How do I reorder my WhatsApp sticker packs?

WhatsApp lists packs in the order they were added, and there is no drag-to-reorder control. To move a pack to the end, remove it and add it again — which is the practical way to promote a pack you use constantly.
