How to Add Telegram Stickers to WhatsApp

Telegram and WhatsApp use different sticker formats. How to convert a Telegram set into WhatsApp packs — with a converter or by hand — and what changes for animated stickers.

Quick answer

A Telegram pack cannot be added to WhatsApp as it is, because the two apps use different sticker formats. The usual route is a converter app or bot that downloads the Telegram set, turns each sticker into WhatsApp's 512 × 512 WebP format, splits the set into packs of 3 to 30 stickers and installs them with Add to WhatsApp. Animated Telegram stickers need converting to animated WebP.

So a Telegram set has to be converted — resized, re-encoded and often split — before WhatsApp will accept it. A large Telegram set becomes several WhatsApp packs: a 90-sticker set needs at least three.

With a converter app or bot

  1. Copy the link of the Telegram sticker set (Share in the set's menu).
  2. Paste it into a sticker converter app or bot that supports Telegram sets.
  3. Let it convert the stickers to 512 × 512 WebP and group them into packs of up to 30.
  4. Tap Add to WhatsApp for each pack and confirm.

Converters are third-party tools, not part of Telegram or WhatsApp. Check what a tool asks permission for before installing it, and prefer ones that convert on your phone.

By hand, for static stickers

Static stickers convert cleanly. Save the images, place each on a transparent 512 × 512 canvas, export as WebP under 100 KB, and assemble at least three of them with a 96 × 96 tray icon in a sticker-maker app, which then adds the pack to WhatsApp. The guide to making your own stickers covers each step.

Animated stickers are harder: TGS files are vector animations and WEBM files are video, so both must be rendered frame by frame into an animated WebP that stays under 500 KB. Most people leave that to a converter.

Step-by-step help: make your own stickers, sticker size and format, GIF to WhatsApp sticker.

Getting a clean result

  • Keep the transparent background. Telegram stickers already have one; make sure the converter exports WebP with transparency rather than flattening each sticker onto white.
  • Watch the file size. WhatsApp rejects a static sticker over 100 KB; if one is too big, lower the image quality slightly rather than shrinking the canvas below 512 × 512.
  • Choose a tray icon. Every WhatsApp pack needs a static 96 × 96 icon under 50 KB; the set's first sticker, scaled down, is the usual choice.
  • Name the pack clearly. The pack name and publisher appear in WhatsApp's confirmation dialog and in your tray, so a recognisable name makes the pack easy to find later.

Check the creator's rights

A Telegram set belongs to whoever drew it. Converting one for your own chats is ordinary use; publishing the converted pack as your own is not, and it is the kind of upload sticker sites remove on request. The sticker copyright guide explains where the line sits.

Get the Sticko app

WhatsApp only accepts sticker packs from an installed app, so the last step always happens outside the browser. Sticko is free on Android and iPhone, and adds any pack to WhatsApp in a couple of taps.

Frequently asked questions

Can I move a Telegram sticker pack to WhatsApp?

Not directly. Telegram and WhatsApp use different formats, so the set has to be converted to WhatsApp's 512 × 512 WebP stickers and split into packs of 3 to 30 before a sticker app can add it to WhatsApp.

Why don't animated Telegram stickers work in WhatsApp?

Telegram's animated stickers are Lottie-based TGS files or WEBM videos, and WhatsApp accepts only animated WebP. They must be rendered into animated WebP of up to 10 seconds and 500 KB first.

How many stickers fit in one WhatsApp pack?

Between 3 and 30. A bigger Telegram set is split across several WhatsApp packs — a 90-sticker set becomes at least three.
