How to Add Stickers to WhatsApp
WhatsApp cannot install a third-party sticker pack straight from a website — Android and iOS both take the import from an installed app. Open the pack in a sticker app such as Sticko, tap Add to WhatsApp, and confirm the dialog. The pack then appears under the sticker tray in every chat. Packs you build inside WhatsApp itself can be shared with another user since 2025.
WhatsApp Sticker Size and Format Requirements
WhatsApp stickers must be exactly 512 × 512 pixels in WebP format. A static sticker must be 100 KB or smaller; an animated sticker must be 500 KB or smaller and run for 10 seconds or less. Every pack needs a 96 × 96 pixel tray icon under 50 KB and must contain between 3 and 30 stickers.

Animated WhatsApp Stickers: How They Work
Animated WhatsApp stickers are animated WebP files, 512 × 512 pixels, up to 500 KB, running 10 seconds or less with frames of at least 8 ms. They loop while the recipient previews them and stop on the first frame afterwards, so the first frame should be a complete image rather than a blank opening.
WhatsApp Stickers on iPhone
On iPhone, WhatsApp stickers live behind the sticker icon in the row above the keyboard, not inside the emoji panel as on Android. Packs are added from an installed sticker app rather than from Safari, because iOS gives the WhatsApp import handshake to apps only. Added packs appear under My Stickers.

To turn a GIF into a WhatsApp sticker, crop it square, resize to exactly 512 × 512 pixels, trim it to 10 seconds or less, and export it as an animated WebP of 500 KB or less with frames no shorter than 8 ms. WhatsApp Sticker Copyright and Licensing
A sticker is an image, so normal copyright applies to it. Sending a sticker privately between friends is low-risk personal use; publishing a pack built from someone else's artwork, characters or photographs is not, because distribution is what copyright actually restricts. Using stickers to promote a business raises the bar again.
WhatsApp Stickers Missing After Changing Phone
Third-party sticker packs are not stored inside a WhatsApp backup — they are provided by the sticker apps installed on the phone. Restoring a backup on a new device therefore brings your chats but not your packs. Reinstall the sticker app and re-add each pack, and the stickers already sent in old chats keep working.

WhatsApp's sticker search matches the emoji tags a publisher attaches to each sticker file — up to three per sticker — rather than analysing the picture. Searching the sticker panel for an emoji or the feeling it represents surfaces stickers tagged with it, so a well-tagged pack is far easier to find than a better-drawn one that was tagged carelessly.
How to Delete and Reorder WhatsApp Sticker Packs
To remove a WhatsApp sticker pack, open the sticker tray in any chat, find the pack, and use the remove or delete control beside it. Deleting takes the pack out of your tray only — stickers you already sent stay in those chats, and the pack can be re-added at any time from the sticker app that provided it.
Where Are WhatsApp Stickers Stored on Android and iPhone?
On Android, stickers you receive are saved as WebP files in Internal storage › Android › media › com.whatsapp › WhatsApp › Media › WhatsApp Stickers (on older Android versions, Internal storage › WhatsApp › Media › WhatsApp Stickers). Packs you install are held privately by WhatsApp and the sticker app, not in that folder. An iPhone has no visible sticker folder at all.
Can You Use WhatsApp Stickers on Instagram, Telegram or iMessage?
Not directly — a WhatsApp sticker pack installs only into WhatsApp. The stickers themselves are ordinary WebP images, though, so you can reuse them: Telegram imports sticker sets from sticker apps that support it, iPhone's Messages app can turn a saved image into a sticker with New Sticker, and Instagram can add one to a story as an image. Animated stickers usually need converting first.
How to Add Telegram Stickers to WhatsApp
A Telegram pack cannot be added to WhatsApp as it is, because the two apps use different sticker formats. The usual route is a converter app or bot that downloads the Telegram set, turns each sticker into WhatsApp's 512 × 512 WebP format, splits the set into packs of 3 to 30 stickers and installs them with Add to WhatsApp. Animated Telegram stickers need converting to animated WebP.

Avatar stickers are a free set WhatsApp builds from the cartoon avatar you design in Settings — 36 stickers of you, launched in December 2022. Premium stickers come with WhatsApp Plus, Meta's optional paid subscription launched in 2026 at about US$2.99 a month, priced per country. It has nothing to do with the unofficial 'WhatsApp Plus' mod app, which can get an account banned.
